Foreign and European Affairs Minister Gordan Grlić Radman 28 September 2019 visited Banja Luka, where he met with Republika Srpska’s Croat Vice-President Josip Jerković and the Bishop of Banja Luka, Mgr Franjo Komarica.

Grlić Radman and Jerković discussed the status of BiH Croats. Visiting the bishopric, the minister supported Komarica and his diocese in their efforts for the survival and stay of Croats in BiH, given the difficulties and suffering they have endured during the past 30 years.

“Caring for BiH Croats is Croatia’s constitutional obligation and it is implemented continuously so that the Croat people can survive in BiH as one of its three equal and constituent peoples. It is in Croatia’s interest that BiH Croats live and exercise their rights under the Dayton Agreement and the constitution, and stay in their homeland. It is our obligation to push for the interests of equality and advocate BiH as a functioning state with European prospects. Croatia is BiH’s most trusted friend in that respect,” underscored Grlić Radman.

The minister also visited the Ivan Merz Catholic School Centre, a true example of inclusiveness and tolerance. He also visited the Caritas’ John Paul II Social Welfare Centre, where the director, Mgr Miljenko Aničić, informed him about the centre’s activities and needs.
