Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman, along with Transport and Infrastructure Minister Alen Gospočić, met with representative of the Končar Group and the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport. The talks focused on the prospects regarding the development of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) as well as the capacities of Končar as an established and reliable partner, which could join European infrastructural projects.  The Končar Group is a Croatian and European company whose reputation, results as well as majority exports to Northern and Western Europe speak for themselves.

In the context of the talks on the 2021-2027 MFF, the collocutors discussed Croatian transport network project, notably the Mediterranean corridor. Deputy Director-General for Transport Maja Bakran Marcich underscored the green dimension of the EU’s future transport policy and the amendments to the existing legislature, with emphasis on the revision of the TEN-T and related financial instruments. The Croatian side underlined that connectedness will be one of the priorities during Croatia’s Council of the EU chairmanship and that the Mediterranean railway corridor, over 3000 km long, was one of the most important future links between the western and the eastern European bloc, i.e. “old” and “new” member states. In regard to the completion of Croatia’s railway routes, co-financed by the EU, Bakran Marcich called for the Croatian side to keep close contact with the European Commission in order to complete these important projects as soon as possible.

Grlić Radman said that the Vc should not be left out of sight, as it connects Bosnia and Herzegovina with the heart of the European continent. Head of the EU Representation in Zagreb Ognian Zlatev stressed that the entire area of Southeast Europe should be far better connected in terms of transport.
