FM Pejčinović Burić discusses Arbitration Tribunal’s decision with diplomatic corps
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Marija Pejčinović Burić invited representatives of diplomatic missions to reiterate Croatia’s position on the irreversibly compromised arbitration proceedings and the decision by the Arbitration Tribunal
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Marija Pejčinović Burić invited representatives of diplomatic missions to reiterate Croatia’s position on the irreversibly compromised arbitration proceedings and the decision by the Arbitration Tribunal to be made public tomorrow 29 June 2017 in The Hague.
The minister recalled that Croatia withdrew from the proceedings in July 2015, immediately after unlawful actions were discovered on part of one Slovenia’s MP and one arbitrator. Pejčinović Burić underscored that Croatia would not consider itself bound by such a decision, adding that no Croatian representatives would be present at tomorrow pronouncing of the Arbitration Tribunal’s decision, nor will the Croatian Embassy to the Kingdom of the Netherlands receive its written copy.
Pejčinović Burić said that Croatia would undertake no one-sided actions and expected the same of Slovenia, as well as that other countries should not advocate implementation of the decision but rather continuation of Croatia-Slovenia dialogue on final solution to the border issue. The minister concluded that there are more things uniting Croatia and Slovenia and their people then there are those that might divide them.
