FM opens Croatian embassy to Kazakhstan

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Marija Pejčinović Burić 30 April 2019 paid a visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Pejčinović Burić held talks with Kazakh Foreign Minister Beibut Atamkulov. The two officials underscored the good and friendly relations between the two countries and highlighted the need to further intensify the overall, especially economic, cooperation. They also exchanged views on the current situation in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, agreeing that central Asia was a key link in Eurasian connectivity projects. Pejčinović Burić and Atamkulov also expressed satisfaction with the opening of the first Croatian embassy in Central Asia and the belief that it would help intensify cooperation between the two countries.

During the visit, a memorandum of understanding was signed by the two countries' ministries of science and education that would ensure the development and exchange of cooperation in said areas.

Pejčinović Burić also met with the speakers of the lower and upper chambers of parliament, Nurlan Nigmatulin and Dariga Nazabayeva respectively. The talks discussed ways to strengthen parliamentary and bilateral cooperation.

The visit was wrapped up with the opening of the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia to the Republic of Kazakhstan, which was attended by Atamkulov, his deputy Roman Vasiljenko, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps and the Croatian community in Kazakhstan.
