FM Kovač in Paris: We are proud of Croatia-France relations

(Hina) - France is the country with which Croatia has changed its relations the most since gaining independence and we should be proud of that, Croatian Foreign Minister Miro Kovač said in Paris on Tuesday after talks with his French counterpart Jean-Marc Ayrault.

"We talked about Croatian-French political cooperation, which is very positive. The country with which we changed the relations the most since the establishment of a free and democratic Croatia is France and we should all be proud of that. We agreed stronger cooperation in the region of Southeast Europe. France can do many good and stabilising things," Kovač told reporters.

He announced that Croatian Prime Minister Tihomir Orešković would visit Paris next week for talks with PM Manuel Valls, and that in July Paris would host a Berlin Process meeting.

"We are looking forward to the July 4 conference in Paris as part of the Berlin Process. We talked about economic cooperation, which is very positive. We have several very important French investments in Croatia. We talked about tourism because we have many tourists from France and about cultural cooperation, which is at a very high level," Kovač said.

Asked if big French companies were interested in coming to Croatia, he said there was a lot of interest in investing in Croatia and that the two prime ministers would discuss this next week. He added that Orešković would also talk with French employers' representatives.
