Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman attended as the Prime Minister’s envoy a commemoration of the “Remembrance of the Croatian victims of the Yugoslav-Communist Bolshevism Killed in Post-War 1945”

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman attended as the Prime Minister’s envoy a commemoration of the “Remembrance of the Croatian victims of the Yugoslav-Communist Bolshevism Killed in Post-War 1945” at the execution site in the Lug Forest.

Addressing the event, the minister said the Croatian people had suffered many trials during the 20th century and experienced life under totalitarian ideologies and regimes, which had claimed countless innocent victims. He stressed that the victims killed in the Lug Forest had been executed without any legal proof of guilt.

Grlić Radman underscored the importance of remembering sites such as the Lug Forest as a reminder to cherish the democratic values that have been built into the foundation of today’s independent and democratic Croatia.

“The sacrifice of those who defended Croatia must never be forgotten, as it the cornerstone of the Croatian state, just like the leadership and the vision of the first Croatian president Franjo Tuđman,” the minister said.
