Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić Radman 26 February 2020 deposited a document on the ratification of the Tripartite Consultation Convention (No. 144) with the Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Guy Ryder.
Croatia thus became the 152nd ILO member state to have ratified the convention.
At the ceremony, Grlić Radman underlined that the ratification of the convention confirmed Croatia’s commitment to the fundamental values of the ILO, social dialogue, protection of workers’ rights, freedom of association and collective bargaining, right to occupational safety and health, and workers’ right to family life. The minister added that these rights and values were additionally strengthened by a number of international instruments that Croatia had already ratified. Moreover, Grlić Radman said that by ratifying the convention, Croatia joined the marking of the ILO’s centenary.
The Tripartite Consultation Convention promotes the application of a founding principle of the ILO: bringing together governments, employers and workers through tripartite social dialogue to develop, implement and promote international labour standards governing all aspects of the world of work. It will come into force for Croatia on 26 February 2021.
