On Friday 24 August 2018, the conference of ambassadors and consuls general continued for second day. It is a practice introduced by the present government with the intent of it becoming a regular annual gathering as well as an opportunity for an informal exchange of views and experiences between Croatia’s diplomatic representatives and with high state officials.

The second day of the conference was dedicated to economic and public diplomacy as well as the functioning of the foreign affairs service.

Ambassadors and consuls discussed with the relevant ministers and other high officials the guidelines of Croatia’s economic policy and economic generators, exchanging opinions and experiences on the challenges and opportunities Croatian diplomatic representatives face in their daily work.

Special attention was paid to Croatia’s cooperation with the Croats abroad and public diplomacy activities, with discussions on creating Croatia’s image and using new media in diplomacy.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Marija Pejčinović Burić called for commitment, dedication and a proactive approach on part of the ambassadors and consuls general so that they could in the best way possible affirm our foreign-policy goals, advance economic cooperation and partnerships as well as promote Croatian culture in the world.

This year’s conference was wrapped up with discussions on the organization and functioning of the foreign affairs service.
