Foreign and European Affairs Minister Gordan Grlić Radman 13 February 2020 in Brussels attended an informal meeting of EU ministers for development cooperation

Foreign and European Affairs Minister Gordan Grlić Radman 13 February 2020 in Brussels attended an informal meeting of EU ministers for development cooperation, at the invitation of High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell and Commissioner for International Partnerships Jutta Urpilainen.

The ministers discussed the new comprehensive EU-Africa strategy. In his address, Grlić Radman underscored the need to align the strategy with new trends. “Two parallel processes are ahead of us – the new comprehensive strategy for Africa, and a new and ambitious post-Cotonou agreement, which is why we have to make sure our partnership with Africa is adapted to the 21st century,” the minister said.

Grlić Radman went on to underline that one of the goals of the Croatian presidency would be to intensify talks on reaching a comprehensive agreement, as well as to involve all actors with the aim of achieving development and peace. “The Croatian presidency strongly supports the adoption of the new comprehensive strategy for Africa, which will improve our partnership with that country in key areas such as sustainable development, Green Deal, migrations, mobility, security and peace,” he said.
