Croatia 17-19 June hosted the first Croatia-Poland Peer Review Conference on the implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1540, attended by experts from the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA).
The resolution obliges all member states to develop and enforce appropriate legal and regulatory measures for the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Croatian experts presented in detail their experiences with implementing the resolution, legal frameworks and forms of cooperation to the Polish and UNODA representatives.
The second day of the conference saw a visit to the port of Rijeka, where Croatia presented the transfer, offload and container transport of sensitive goods, as well as devices used to detect hazardous materials.
