Farewell visit by German ambassador

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić received outgoing German ambassador Hans Peter Annen, who expressed satisfaction that he had been the German ambassador during a very interesting and important period for Croatia, in a time when it became an EU member state and implemented key reforms to overcome the recession. Pusić thanked for Germany’s support, underlining the importance of its role in changing the European policy towards Bosnia and Herzegovina. She expressed concern over the situation in Macedonia. She also discussed the challenges facing the EU, notably the refugee crisis, stressing that Croatia would do its part to help resolve it.

Annen underlined the importance of Croatia’s initiative for Bosnia, as the first step towards changing the EE policy. He said Croatia’s role in the region was extremely important, describing Croatia as “the anchor of stability”. He expressed satisfaction with the German-Croatian relations, underscoring the recent visit by German Foreign Minister Steinmeier to Croatia. Annen thanked all Croatian institutions for their cooperation during his term of office, hopeful that the support for the German School as part of Eurocampus would continue.
