This year for the 15th time in a row Croatia is marking the European Week. The central event will be held on the Europe Day, Friday 9 May, in the square outside the Europe House (Augusta Cesarca Street 4-6) from 11-16 h. The celebration is co-organized by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the European Commission Representation in Croatia and the European Parliament’s Information Office.

In the week from 5 May, numerous activities, exhibitions, lectures and public events will mark the Europe Day.

This year for the first time Croatia is commemorating the Europe Day as a full-fledged EU member state. The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the European Commission Representation in Croatia and the European Parliament’s Information Office 9 May will recap all that has changed since 1 July 2013, when Croatia became the 28th EU member state, and inform the citizens about all the possibilities, advantages and rights they enjoy as EU citizens.

In the square outside the Europe House info stands will be put up, offering publications about the EU and its influence on the everyday life, as well as the European Parliament election to be held 25 May. Apart from the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the European Commission Representation in Croatia and the European Parliament’s Information Office, info stands will be erected also by 15 or so EU member states, as well as numerous Croatian institutions which will present concrete projects and programmes that can be realized within the EU funds, the Community Program for Employment and Social Solidarity, and the Programme for Education, Training, Youth and Sports. Citizens will also be informed about the EU contacts points in Croatia.

The same day dance workshops will be held, as well as performances by DJs and choirs, the Eurocampus international German-French school and Cantores Sancti Marci, while in the evening Neno Belan i Fiumensi will hold a concert outside the Europe House starting at 20.30.

Apart from Zagreb, the Europe Day and Europe Week will be commemorated in all Croatia’s counties. Through various activities, lectures and forums, citizens will be informed about concrete projects financed by the EU and all issues regarding the EU.
