Europe has to continue supporting Ukraine, prevent Western Balkan escalation

Minister Grlić Radman on Monday attended the Bled Strategic Forum, where he delivered a presentation at the panel titled “How Many Challenges for Europe?”

The minister agreed that enlargement has to be high on Europe’s foreign policy agenda and that Europe has to prevent any escalation in the Western Balkans as well as the spillover from the conflict in Ukraine.

He underscored that Europe must show solidarity with Ukraine as Russia’s aggression poses a risk for democracy and European values, adding that the aggression was a signal to Europe to find ways to cease being dependent on Russian fuels.

Speaking about the upcoming election in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Grlić Radman said that Croatia expected of High Representative Christian Schmidt to use his powers to amend the election law in order to ensure equality of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s three constituent peoples.

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Grlić Radman met with Schmidt to discuss the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina ahead of the general election, tweeted the prime minister.

“We support his efforts to make BiH a more functional and stable county, in which Croatia wants its three constituent peoples to be equal,” Plenković said.
