As part of the program commemorating Europe Day, on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, the play "Jalta, Jalta" by Milan Grgić and Alfio Kabiljo, directed by Marko Juraga and conducted by maestro Davor Kelić, was staged at the Komedija Theatre in Zagreb, which was recently successfully renovated with funds from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan for the restoration of buildings of cultural institutions and cultural heritage.

On this occasion, the ambassadors accredited to the Republic of Croatia were warmly welcomed by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Andreja Metelko-Zgombić, who emphasized the importance of diplomatic relations and cooperation between the Republic of Croatia and the EU member states. In her welcoming words, the state secretary underscored the need to strengthen ties and cooperation among European peoples and to promote dialogue and culture as key elements in building a stable European community.

Metelko-Zgombić highlighted high how the timeless themes of "Jalta, Jalta" prompt us to draw parallels with the ongoing efforts of the EU to be a guarantor of peace and stability in today's world. Unfortunately, Yalta and Crimea are again at the center of global politics and mass human tragedies, making this play particularly relevant in today's world. The EU was founded as a community of peoples who share common values of freedom, democracy, human rights, equality, and the rule of law.
