During the official visit to Romania, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Gordan Jandroković met April 30th 2010 with President of the Romanian Senate’s Foreign Affairs Committee Titus Corlătean and the Croatian minority MP Mihai Radan.

The collocutors described the relations between Croatia and Romania as excellent, which is also evident in the excellent cooperation within SEECP and the Regional Cooperation Council. They agreed that Croatia and Romania, in light of their prominent regional orientation, could assume an even stronger position in the process of stabilizing South Eastern Europe and its approaching the EU. Minister Jandroković thanked for the support Romania is lending Croatia along its European road, as well as for the readiness to exchange experiences.

He informed his collocutors about the current status of the negotiations between Croatia and the EU, expressing Croatia’s willingness to assist the countries of South Eastern Europe along their path to the Euro-Atlantic integration. Committee President Corlătean said that after the completion of the negotiation Croatia can expect a swift ratification of the Accession Treaty in the Romanian Parliament.

The meeting also saw the exchange of opinions about the position of minorities in both countries, the model of electing their representatives, energy issues, and the planned oil and gas diversification of the European countries.
