The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs welcomes the launching of the multilingual digital platform of the Conference on the Future of Europe, which will allow citizens from across Europe to contribute to the shaping of the EU’s future.

The Conference opens up a new space and encourages European citizens, especially youth, to actively engage in contemplating the topics and areas of interest for the years ahead, which is even more important in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The platform invites citizens from all parts of Europe and all social groups to exchange ideas and propose solutions on the future of the EU and its policies, organize events within the Conference and participate in them. The platform will contain all the information and activities regarding the Conference and analyse the collected data.

“We need an open and broad debate on the future of the European project that will include European citizens, different stakeholders, our youth. Through dialogue and deliberation, we will give our contribution to the vision, direction and solutions for the period ahead. We want the voice of the Croatian citizens to be heard as well, and will work on encouraging it,” said Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman.

The digital multilingual platform was launched today in Brussels by the European Parliament’s Co-Chair of the Executive Board Guy Verhofstadt, the Portuguese Secretary of State for EU Affairs on behalf of the Presidency of the Council of the EU, Ana Paula Zacarias, and Commission Vice-President for Democracy and Demography, Dubravka Šuica.

The Conference is a joint venture by the Council of the EU, European Parliament and European Commission, which, together with the member states, take part in it as equal partners.

The inaugural event for the Conference on the Future of Europe is due to be held on Europe Day, 9 May.
