The collocutors expressed satisfaction with the two countries’ excellent and friendly relations, accompanied by frequent highest-level visits. As particularly important Minister Jandroković described the recent visit by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk to Croatia, during which he handed Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor the English version of Croatia’s EU accession treaty.

He pointed out that Croatia greatly appreciated Poland’s support during the EU accession negotiations, and especially the efforts to realize the signing of the accession treaty during Polish EU presidency, in December this year.

Minister Sikorski congratulated the Croatian government on successfully closing the EU accession negotiations, as well as the reforms it had implemented, saying that Poland was sure to be among the first countries to ratify Croatia’s accession treaty. He also expressed satisfaction with today’s opening of the Croatian consulate, headed by honorary consul Henryk Maciejewski, in his hometown of Bydgoszcz.

Both sides expressed willingness to continue developing the bilateral cooperation in all the areas of mutual interest, especially on the regional and local level. Minister Jandroković said that Croatia was especially interested in Poland’s experiences with using the EU funds, which members of the Croatian country heads delegation could familiarize themselves with as well during the recent visit to Poland.

The ministers also discussed the current situation in South Eastern Europe. Minister Jandroković reiterated that Croatia supported the European and Euro-Atlantic integration processes of all its countries, with the aim of achieving full stability and prosperity in the area.
