The two officials characterized the relations between France and Croatia as excellent and friendly, further strengthened by the French-Croatian Strategic Partnership. Expressing satisfaction with the dynamic of the meetings between the two countries’ high-level officials, Minister Jandroković recalled his meeting with French Foreign Minister Alain Juppé in Paris this year.

Once again thanking France for its active support for Croatia in its EU accession, Jandroković informed Leonetti about all pending activities in that area, namely the signing of the Accession Treaty, expected for December this year, and the holding of the referendum on Croatia’s EU membership.

Minister Leonetti congratulated the Croatian government on successfully completing negotiations with the EU and all the reforms it had implemented, pointing out that France would continue to support Croatia so that it could become a full-fledged EU member in July 2013. He emphasized Croatia’s positive impact on the region of Southeast Europe, praising Croatia’s policy of building friendship, cooperation and good-neighbourly relations.

The two officials also said they were pleased that a Croatian Culture Festival was to be held in France in the fall of 2012, saying it would further advance the bilateral relations and in particular the two countries’ cultural ties.

Also discussed was the EU’s Common Security and Defence Policy, as well as the situation in Southeast Europe and North Africa, with an emphasis on the current situation in Libya.
