Deputy Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Joško Klisović 16 October held political consultations with the Secretary General of the Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Austria, Michael Linhart. The officials underlined the traditionally good bilateral relations, as evidenced by frequent visits and intensive cooperation in numerous areas, from culture, science and education to defence, internal affairs and sports.

As both Croatia and Austria place great importance on the EU enlargement and share similar views on the situation in Southeast Europe, the interlocutors stressed the significance of continuing the enlargement towards the region of Southeast Europe. They also discussed the European neighbourhood policy as well as the Russia-Ukraine crisis.

One of the topics was also economic cooperation and Europe’s energy security. Klisović familiarized Linhart with the Croatian government’s measures aimed at improving the investment climate.

Given the numerous joint interests and similar positions, notably in regard to the EU topics, the officials agreed on further cooperation within the Croatia-Austria-Slovenia trilateral, as well as reviewed the prospect of launching new cooperation formats.

Linhart also met with Assistant Minister for European Affairs Hrvoje Marušić, with whom he discussed EU topics, notably Croatia-Austria cooperation within the EU macro-regions.
