Deputy Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Joško Klisović 25 and 26 November visited Ashgabat, where he held political consultations with Deputy Foreign Minister Matyejev, met with Deputy Minister of Economy and Development Atayev and attended the Croatia-Turkmenistan Business Forum, which saw the participation of Croatian companies.

Held at the Ministry of Economy, the Forum hosted 12 Croatian companies from the fields of transport, construction, electrical industry, shipbuilding, oil and gas industry and agricultural-food industry, which presented their offers and plans for appearing in Turkmenistan. Representatives of the relevant ministries and Turkmen presented plan for the realization of major national projects by sectors. Additional meetings were held at the relevant ministries with representatives of Croatian companies to discuss concrete projects and offers.

Klisović said Croatian companies were interested in entering the growing Turkmen market, with support from the Croatian Government in the realization of projects. He said we would greatly appreciate assistance from the Turkmen authorities in opening branches of Croatian companies and establishing other forms of business presence, as well as assistance in better understanding the local business climate. Atayev said he was impressed by the Croatian companies’ offer and international references, welcoming them to the Turkmen market.  

The political consultations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs discussed the possibilities of further intensifying the Croatia-Turkmenistan relations in all areas, including education, sports and culture. The two sides exchanged drafts for several bilateral agreements and outlined the dynamic of reciprocal bilateral visits. Also discussed was energy security in Europe and Asia, as well as other multilateral cooperation issues.
