Deputy Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Joško Klisović held 8 June in Minsk political consultations with Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister Alena Kupchyna. The two officials discussed bilateral cooperation and how to strengthen it in the areas of culture, tourism, transport, energy and agriculture, underlining the need to ink bilateral agreements as soon as possible, on which negotiations are already ongoing. They also reviewed various economic cooperation issues and the presence of some of Croatia’s most prominent companies on the Belarusian market. An Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Government of the Republic of Belarus on Economic Cooperation was also signed.

Klisović and Kupchyna talked about the topical issues concerning Belarus-EU relations, including the prospects of a closer and project-oriented cooperation of the Eastern Partnership countries. They also discussed crisis points in the wider neighbourhood, notably Ukraine.

Accompanying Klisović were representatives of 20 or so Croatian companies from the fields of construction, chemical industry, oil and gas industry, transport, industrial infrastructure, environmental protection, IT et al. The delegation held talks with deputy minister of energy, deputy minister of transport and communications, as well as first deputy minister of natural resources and environmental protection. They reviewed prospects of cooperation in these areas and expressed interest in developing concrete partnerships through joint engagement of Croatian and Belarusian companies. Klisović presented Croatian companies interested in public works from said fields.

Apart from individual talks at competent ministries and agencies organized by the Croatian Embassy in Moscow in cooperation with the Croatian Chamber of Economy, an economic forum was also held at the Belarusian Chamber of Economy, during which numerous Croatian companies were presented and business-to-business meetings held with potential partners.
