Croatian Government-organized humanitarian aid for Libyan people sailed today from Rijeka for Benghazi

The million-kuna worth of humanitarian aid includes medicine donations by Belupo from Koprivnica, as well as medical supplies provided by the Croatian Government through the Ministry of Defence.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration coordinated the action and covered the transport expenses.

Said action is part of the overall efforts by the Republic of Croatia and the international community to assist Libya humanitarianly. The international community, through the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, has identified health as the priority sector for the humanitarian activities to be directed at in the coming period. In that regard, Croatia will remain an active partner and support the international community’s efforts in humanitarian protection of the Libyan people.

Aside from the medical supply donation, the Croatian Government reached a decision last month to send a 750,000-kuna worth of humanitarian aid to the Libyan people, which should also be sent to Libya soon.
