Croatian Foreign Minister Miomir Žužul met today, 1 July 2004, in Warsaw, with Polish Prime Minister Wlodzimierz Cimoszewicz
The political relations were described as good, but it was pointed out that economic co-operation and trade need to be intensified. It was agreed that political consultations should be held regularly, and co-operation between the diplomatic academies was suggested. The possible fields of economic co-operation include energetics and energy supply. Minister Žužul informed Minister Cimoszewicz about the difficulties PLIVA has in marketing in medicines in Poland, and invited him to pay a visit to Croatia.
Later in the day, Minister Žužul met with Prime Minister Marek Belka and President of the Polish parliament (Sejm) Jozef Oleksy, who also congratulated Croatia on receiving the candidate status and promised Poland’s full support to Croatia’s efforts in integrating into the EU and NATO. Minister Žužul invited Prime Minister Belka and Parliament’s President Oleksy to visit Croatia.
At the onset of his working visit Minister Žužul held a lecture at the Diplomatic Academy of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, entitled: “Croatia – a bridge between Bruxelles and Southeast Europe”. Present at the lecture were members of the diplomatic corps, students at the Academy and the press. In the afternoon, Minister Žužul also had a short meeting with representatives of the Croatian business community in Poland.
