Croatian Embassy to the Holy See held reception at cloister of St. Kosmas and Damian Monastery, ceremoniously marking Statehood Day

On that occasion, Minister Jandroković expressed satisfaction with his first official visit to the Holy See. He pointed out the special and unique historical ties between Croatia and the Holy See dating back to the 9th century, when a letter by Pope John VIII to Prince Branimir internationally recognized Croatia for the first time, including Vatican’s recognition of Croatia’s independence and sovereignty in 1992, which prompted other countries to do the same. Croatia takes this with gratitude and responsibility, said Minister Jandroković, adding that the basic principles of Croatia’s policy are advocating peaceful dispute solutions, the building of peace, and protection of all human beings.

The reception was attended by numerous dignitaries – high Vatican officials, highly-positioned Croatian priests in Vatican, members of the diplomatic corps, and distinguished Croats living and working in Rome. Departing, the guests received promotional material by the Croatian Tourist Board and the third book of lectures held as part of the “Croatian Embassy’s Circle”, presented in Zagreb a month ago by Minister Jandroković.
