Croatian Embassy to South Africa organised reception for Croatian emigrants

Croatian Embassy to the Republic of South Africa organised on Friday, 20 January 2006, a reception for the Croatian emigrants, with the presentation of the newly-appointed Croatian Ambassador to South Africa, Ivan Picukarić

In his opening speech, Ambassador Picukarić communicated to the emigrants the greetings by Croatian President Stjepan Mesić, Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, and Foreign Minister Kolinda Grabar Kitarović, and offered them an open co-operation.

Ambassador Picukarić informed the guests about the Croatian Government’s decision to promote the Croatian Embassy in Pretoria to a higher category, which resulted in the appointment of another diplomat to the Republic of South Africa.

This created the conditions for a more quality work of the Embassy, which is also a recognition of sorts to the Croatian community in South Africa.

Ambassador Picukarić pointed out that the Croatian Embassy to Pretoria will continue to work on bringing closer the Croatian homeland and diaspora, and offered a friendly co-operation to the small, but tightly-knit community of Croatian emigrants.
