Croatian Embassy in Berlin receives suspicious package

Subsequent examination revealed that the package contained a hand grenade

Subsequent examination revealed that the package contained a hand grenade. The package, which also included a threat letter, was immediately isolated and secured.

Relevant services of the German Interior Ministry were notified right away and upon further inspection determined it was an M75 hand grenade with a fuse assembly, which was then taken out of the Embassy premises.

An investigation is underway into the possible sender, as well as the reasons for sending the threat mail.

Security measures at the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Berlin were raised to high alert as early as 23 December 2010 following the parcel bomb threats sent to several embassies in Rome.
