Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the United States of America Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović presented March 10th 2009 in Panama City her credentials to Panama President Martín Torrijos Espino, as the non-residential ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Republic of Croatia to the Republic of Panama.

After the presentation ceremony, Ambassador Grabar-Kitarović and President Torrijos Espino talked about the two countries’ bilateral cooperation. Apart from the issue of visa cancellation for Croatian citizens, Ambassador Grabar-Kitarović mentioned the possibility of maritime cooperation between the two countries, namely in the employment of the ports of Rijeka, Split and Ploče for marketing Panama products and free zone exploitation. President Torrijos Espino stated Panama’s interest in presenting the Panama Canal enlargement project to Croatian companies.

The meeting with Panama Foreign Minister Samuel Lewis Navarro discussed last year’s cooperation between Croatia and Panama within the UN Security Council, which represents a good basis for the strengthening of the cooperation between the two foreign affairs ministries. Ambassador Grabar-Kitarović thanked Minister Lewis Navarro for the assistance on the part of Panama Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the past and asked him for continued assistance in Croatia’s consular affairs in Panama.
