Croatia welcomes extension of NATO Secretary General’s mandate

Secretary General of NATO is the chief official of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. The Secretary General is responsible for coordinating the workings of the alliance, serves as the head of the North Atlantic Council and leads NATO's staff.

Anders Fogh Rasmussen is the former prime minister of Denmark, and has assumed the office of NATO Secretary General on 1 August 2009. He was introduced to the public at the NATO summit in Strasbourg and Kehl 3 and 4 April 2009, which Croatia attended for the first time as a full-fledged member of the Alliance.
