Croatia welcomes Bosnia’s EU membership application

Croatia, as the neighbouring country and party to the Dayton Agreement, has a special responsibility towards Bosnia and Herzegovina, where Croats are a constituent nation equal to their friends Bosniaks and Serbs, and therefore strongly supports its EU membership.

The prospect of EU membership offers the incentive to transform Bosnia’s society based on common European values: respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, rule of law and human rights, including minority rights.

It is in Croatia’s interest that all countries in its southeast neighbourhood, having fully met the accession criteria, join the European family.

In Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina will have a friend and partner willing to help it with its experience along a path that involves societal transformation and which will allow all three nations and citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina to live a better life.
