The Republic of Croatia expresses solidarity with the Libyan people and fully supports their striving for freedom and democracy, and therefore expects the international action to result in a truly democratic transition of their country.

The Republic of Croatia, having experienced a war itself, believes that international intervention is legitimate when launched for the purposes of preventing serious and mass violation of the fundamental human rights, as well as when there is a wider consensus within the international community, as is the case with the action in Libya.

The Republic of Croatia applauds the fact that Resolution 1973 (2011) was adopted in a timely manner and with a widespread international and regional support, which is indicative of stronger international action instruments in relation to the time of crisis in former Yugoslavia. The Republic of Croatia also supports and respects the imposing of sanctions against the Gaddafi regime through Resolution 1973 (2011).

Parallel to the international military action, plans are being made for the international humanitarian activities and long-term stabilization of the situation in Libya.
