Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman on Saturday received a working visit from San Marino’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Economic Cooperation and Telecommunications Luca Beccari.

The two ministers underscored satisfaction with the friendly and partner relations between Croatia and San Marino, affirmed by today’s signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations and the Memorandum of Understanding on Cultural, Educational and Scientific Cooperation.

“These two agreements provide a framework for the additional strengthening of cooperation in a number of areas. We consider this especially important in these challenging international circumstances, when joint action on the principles of solidarity and mutual respect is very much needed,” Grlić Radman said, thanking his counterpart for a constructive contribution to the advancement of bilateral dialogue and expressing satisfaction over its additional development.

The strong historical ties between Croatia and San Marino stem from the legend that the founder of San Marino, St. Marinus, was born on the Croatian island of Rab. The cities of San Marino and Rab have been partner cities from as early as 1968.
