Croatia joins U.S. Visa Waiver Program

Croatia joins U.S. Visa Waiver Program

On Tuesday, U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas announced that Croatia has joined the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), which was the last formal step in the cancellation of visa requirements for Croatian nationals travelling to the U.S.

The realization of this important foreign-policy goal, a result of meeting strict requirements that Croatia has been working on for years, will contribute to the strengthening of ties between the homeland and diaspora, as well as to the intensification of Croatia-U.S. economic and business relations.

Today’s decision is a result of years of work by the government and relevant departments, as well as of the excellent cooperation and partnership between Croatia and the U.S.

In the period ahead, the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) is expected to be adapted to the new regime so that by year’s end Croatian nationals could travel to the U.S. visa-free.
