On the occasion of increased interest of the public for the list of the USA Department of Defence related to contracting for renovation of Iraq, the Croatian Foreign Ministry wishes to inform that the Republic of Croatia is not on the list of countries that may compete for contracting the said job within the Iraq Relief and Reconstruction Fund (IRRF). This list includes 63 states who have supported the American policy in Iraq and who have participated within coalition forces.

The said countries will compete for any of 26 contracts worth 18.6 billion USD, secured for the reconstruction of Iraq by USA and its tax payers. All other countries, including Croatia, will be able to compete as subcontractors, pursuant to regulations.

IRRF is only one in the series of various funds intended for comprehensive renovation of Iraq that will be opened in the future to new participants as well. In addition to IRRF, there is also the Development Fund for Iraq, UN's Fund for Iraq, Fund of Donors from Madrid, as well as funds from IMF and the World Bank.

During the past several months, the Croatian companies have participated in several preparatory meetings, initiated by the Croatian Foreign Ministry, so as to prepare themselves for the possibility of subcontracting renovation in Iraq.
