In the presence of Council of Europe deputy secretary-general Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni, Croatia’s permanent representative to the CoE, Ambassador Miroslav Papa, deposited with the depositary, the CoE secretary-general, a document on the ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (the so-called Istanbul Convention) together with the reservation and interpretive statement.

The act of depositing the ratification document was preceded by parliament ratifying the Convention on 13 April 2018 and President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović signing the ratification document on 24 May 2018.

Croatia is the 31st party to that international agreement. The Convention will enter into force in Croatia on 1 October 2018.
