Convention on Cluster Munitions adopted at closing session of Dublin Diplomatic Conference

Convention on Cluster Munitions was adopted at the closing session of the Dublin Diplomatic Conference on Friday, 30 May 2008

The Convention, which represents a significant step in the development of international humanitarian law, prohibits the use of cluster munitions with unacceptable humanitarian effects, emphasizes the humanitarian aspect of help to the victims of cluster munitions, without excluding military co-operation with countries which are not parties to the Convention. The signing of the Convention is planned for December of this year in Oslo.

The Republic of Croatia was represented by the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the Republic of Ireland Veselko Grubišić, counsellor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration for issues of demining Dijana Pleština, head of Section for Arms Control and Disarmament at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and inspector for armament supervision at the Ministry of Defence Vlado Puntarić.
