On 6 December 2003, a celebration of unveiling a memorial tablet to Croatian professors and students, who lectured and studied at the University in Trnava in the 17th and 18th centuries, was held in the town of Trnava, 50 km from Bratislava.

The tablet was displayed at the facade of the historical building of the University of Trnava, on the so-called Croatian Wing. The tablet was unveiled by Ms. Helena Jasna Mencer, Head of the University in Zagreb. The decision of displaying the tablet was made by the Senate of the University in Zagreb, at the incentive of the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Bratislava. The author of the tablet is Mr. Mladen Mikulin, an academic sculptor.

In her speech, Ms. Mencer stated numerous Croatian-Slovakian connections and indicated that the European university cooperation is built on these foundations. The first head of the Zagreb Jesuit Faculty was Mr. Aleksandar Dobokai, a Slovak, and the first head of both the University of Trnava and the Jesuit Faculty was Mr. Juraj Dobronoki, a Croat. Mr. Juraj Habdelić, a man of letters and lexicographer, studied theology in Trnava and won his doctoral degree there, and was twice a head, once in Zagreb and once in Trnava.
