Briefing held for heads of diplomatic missions regarding Croatia 2007 Status Report
Regarding the European Commission’s Croatia 2007 Status Report, a briefing was held on 7 November 2007 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration for heads of the EU members and South Eastern European countries’ diplomatic missions, as well as the heads of the European Commission’s Delegation and OSCE Mission, at which Croatia’s views on said document were presented
They pointed out that the Report recognised the significant and continuous progress Croatia has made in almost all of the areas, as well as the intensive dynamics of conducting the reforms. They welcomed the Report’s statement that Croatia has overall considerably developed its capacity to assume the membership obligations. Especially encouraging are the observations about the progress in meeting the economic criteria, with an emphasis on the existence of a functioning market economy and macroeconomic stability.
The briefing also reviewed Croatia’s progress in assuming the membership obligations chapter by chapter, pointing out that Croatia has received better marks for most chapters than in the last year’s report.
The briefing also presented the activities regarding the passing of the 2008 National EU Accession Programme, the fundamental document for planning and monitoring the EU accession activities.
