Assistant Minister Batistić Kos attends launching of European Year for Development

On 9 January in Riga the European Year for Development 2015 was launched under the slogan “Our World, Our Dignity, Our Future”,

On 9 January in Riga the European Year for Development 2015 was launched under the slogan “Our World, Our Dignity, Our Future”, to be implemented year-round in all of the EU member states.

The launching ceremony saw the attendance of European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, European Parliament’s Development Committee Chair Linda McAvan and European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development Neven Mimica. Croatia was represented by Assistant Minister for Multilateral Affairs and Global Issues Vesna Batistić Kos.

The main goals of the European Year for Development are raising the awareness of the results of the international development cooperation, informing the citizens about the post-2015 Development Agenda and actively involving all participants in the implementation of the international development cooperation.  

The European Year for Development 2015 is being implemented in moments of international talks on the key issues pertaining to development cooperation such as the post-2015 Development Agenda, financing development and climate changes, all intertwined in a goal to eradicate poverty.
