In regard to today’s statement by Vice-President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans concerning Croatia-Slovenia border dispute, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs recalls that this is a bilateral issue which used to be the subject matter of the arbitration proceedings that were badly compromised by Slovenia’s unlawful actions and so Croatia withdrew from the proceedings in 2015 (following the Croatian parliament’s unanimous decision).

The Arbitration Tribunal’s decision is not binding for Croatia and we will not implement it.

Croatia remains open to dialogue with Slovenia with the aim of resolving the border issue.
