Appeal for humanitarian aid to support the action for saving the life of a 19-year old secondary school pupil, Daniel Gässler...

On 30 June 2003, the Consulate General of the Republic of Croatia in Stuttgart issued and appeal for humanitarian aid to support the action for saving the life of a 19-year old secondary school pupil, Daniel Gässler, from Schwäbisch Hall in the Federal Republic of Germany, who has leukemia.

The humanitarian action in search of a bone marrow donor was launched by the ofice of Federal MP Rezzo Schlauch of the Alliance 90/Greens who is also the parliamentary state secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economy and Labour.

The Consulate General of Croatia has sent invitations to all leaders of the Catholic missions, Croatian cultural and sport societies, to initiate among their parishioners and the membership the humanitarian action for rescuing young, Daniel's mother being a Croatian from Split, which makes the search for a suitable donor in Germany difficult.

On the initiative of the Consul General, Dr. Vera Tadić, all employees of the Consulate General of Croatia in Stuttgart will be among the first to have their blood tested in order to find a suitable bone marrow donor, in Hagenbachhalle in Schwäbisch Hall on 6 July 2003, from 10.00 to 17.00 h.

The second round of testing is scheduled in Wollhause in Heilbronn on 12 July 2003, from 10.00 to 17.00 h.

The initiating board and DKMS (German bone marrow bank) has opened the bank account for contributions to cover the costs of tests for the typification of blood for Daniel Gässler:
DKMS GmbH "Aktion Lebenspende für Daniel", account No. 103 296 000 code VR-Bank Schwäbisch Hall, BLZ 622 901 10.
