Ambassador Mira Martinec handed credentials to Uruguayan President Tabare Vazquez

Croatian Ambassador to the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, seated in Buenos Aires, Mira Martinec handed 21 June 2006 the originals of her credentials to Uruguayan President Tabare Vazquez, officially assuming the duty of the Croatian ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, seated in Buenos Aires

At the handing of the credentials, Ambassador Martinec had a protocol meeting during which she relayed the greetings by Croatian President Stjepan Mesić, expressing satisfaction with the existing friendly relations between the two countries, with a wish for their further intensification. Along with President Vazquez, the ceremonial handing of the credentials at the Presidential Residence also saw the presence of Foreign Minister Reinaldo Gargano Ostuni and the Head of the Presidential Cabinet.

Both sides stressed the possibility of further developing the economic and intensifying the political and cultural co-operation.

After the handing of the credentials, a wreath was laid with the highest state honours at the Monumento al General Artgas on the Plaza Independencia.
