The lecture presented by Ambassador Tomić was held at the invitation of Director of the Centre for International Studies professor Brendan Simms, Clare College and the Committee for Russian and East European Studies. In the lecture, the Ambassador presented an overview of the Croatian history, relations between Croatia and Great Britain, Croatia’s accession negotiations, and the contributions that Croatia’s membership in the EU will bring in the future.

The questions that followed were related to the development of democratisation in the Republic of Croatia, Croatia’s views on further EU enlargement to SEE countries, economic situation, use of EU pre-accession funds, situation in the region and similar.

The lecture was followed by the traditional meeting where they discussed the possibility to offer the Croatian learning course at the Cambridge University and potential elaboration of this project.
