Croatian Ambassador Željko Bošnjak handed 22 January his credentials to Adrienne Clarkson, Governor General of Canada, at a ceremony held at the Governor General's residence in Ottawa, thus officially beginning his term of office as Croatian Ambassador to Canada

Present at the handing of credentials were the Director of Canada's Department for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, David Preston, and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dan McTeague, as well as MPs Janko Perić and Glen Bredbury.

Ambassador Bošnjak informed Governor General Clark about the goals and priorities of the new Croatian government and talked about strengthening the relations between the two countries, as well as Croatia's preparations for joining the EU and NATO. During private conversation, Ms Clarkson told Ambassador Bošnjak that she and her family had visited Dubrovnik several times in the past and plans to visit it again this summer.
