Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman on Wednesday met with Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau.

The meeting affirmed the long-standing, excellent and intensive relations between the two countries. Croatia and Poland have no outstanding issues and successfully cooperate in a number of areas, notably defence. The participation of Croatian soldiers in NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence in Poland is a confirmation of Croatia’s friendship and solidarity with the Polish people and other NATO allies.

“Our countries agree that we have to continue strongly supporting the Ukrainian people’s fight for freedom. Croatia greatly appreciates Poland’s efforts to provide various forms of assistance to Ukraine, notably in terms of protecting and accommodating a large number of Ukrainian refugees,” Grlić Radman said.

The two ministers also discussed the advancement of economic cooperation, energy, EU enlargement to Southeast Europe, and regional cooperation, notably within the Three Seas Initiative, which Croatia and Poland jointly initiated, as well as other topics of mutual interest.

Grlić Radman and Rau underscored support for all countries wishing to join our European family, based on the assessment that the European perspective and meeting the membership criteria are important for the stability of Southeast European counties. In addition, the ministers agreed there was great potential for boosting the trade between Croatia and Poland, given the steady growth of the two countries’ economies.

“I would like to take this opportunity to invite the Polish people, our dear guests, to visit ours and their Adriatic this year as well. Croatia has by joining the Schengen Area and the eurozone grown even closer and more reachable to all European tourists,” said Grlić Radman.
