On 4 September 2012, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Dr. Vesna Pusić received Isabela Bárbara Téllez Rosete, the non-resident Ambassador of the United Mexican States in the Republic of Croatia seated in Budapest on her inaugural visit

The bilateral relations between Croatia and Mexico were assessed as very good, and the common desire for further improvement of the political and economic cooperation was confirmed. Minister Pusić informed Ambassador Téllez of the completed negotiations between the Republic of Croatia and the European Union, and of the ratification process of the Croatian Accession Agreement, while the Ambassador spoke of the recently held elections in the United Mexican States and the inauguration of the new Mexican president scheduled for early December of this year.

The Mexican ambassador stressed that Mexico supports Croatia's membership in the EU, considering that this will contribute to the strengthening of relations and economic cooperation between the two countries, due to the Strategic Partnership between Mexico and the EU.

Minister Pusić expressed her condolences for the tragic death of a Mexican national in Split, while the ambassador applauded the cooperation with the honourable consuls of Mexico in Split and in Zagreb, particularly the assistance of Mr. Marin Bosotina in this case.

Both officials assessed that there is room for development for all forms of cooperation, and expressed their certainty that the very good relations with continue, and deepen in the future.

The Mexican ambassador extended the invitation of Mexican Foreign Minister Patricia Espinosa for Minister Pusić to pay an official visit to the United Mexican States.
