Describing the bilateral relations as excellent, Minister Jandrković thanked Senator Shaheen for her support for Croatia’s EU accession

Describing the bilateral relations as excellent, Minister Jandrković thanked Senator Shaheen for her support for Croatia’s EU accession. The minister expressed hope that the economic partnership with the US would be strengthened further, pointing out that in 2010 more than 130,000 American tourists had visited Croatia, an increase of 11% in relation to 2009.

Minister Jandroković expressed satisfaction over the fact that during his stay in the US he would sign with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton the Open Skies Agreement, which will enable direct flights between our countries and thus increase the number of tourist visits.

Minister Jandroković said he hoped the American investors would show even more interest in investing in Croatia. The collocutors also discussed the state of affairs in South Eastern Europe, with special emphasis on the current political situation and the problem of forming the government in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In that regard, Minister Jandroković emphasized the importance of equal position of Croats for the stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region as a whole.

Minister Jandroković and Senator Shaheen agreed that the Euro-Atlantic perspective of Europe’s southeast was the solution for lasting peace and stability in the area.

In that context, Minister Jandroković pointed out the significance of the US and Southeast European Trade and Investment Forum, to be held in Dubrovnik early-April. The Forum will pay respect to Ron Brown, the former US Secretary of Commerce, marking the 15th anniversary of his tragic death near Dubrovnik.
