On 15 June 2010, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration hosted a seminar titled „Exchange of the good practice of communication with farmers about the European integration – Polish experience“.

The seminar was opened by the State Secretary for Political Affairs, DSc Davor Božinović, and the State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, DSc Jan Borkowski

State Secretary Borkowski emphasised that Polish farmers, once the most sceptical group prior to the admission of Poland to the EU, have become the biggest proponents of EU membership. A research in 2009 showed that 81% of Poles support their country's membership of the EU, and 70% of them support further enlargement.

State Secretary Božinović said that in all the countries joining the EU farmers were one of the groups most sensitive to change, but the EU offered them many possibilities and opened bright prospects to them.

The seminar was attended by the staff from the line ministries and bodies of the Republic of Croatia in charge of regional development and agricultural policy. They wee presented the communication structure in the pre-accession period in Poland, the role of public opinion polling in the implementation of the Communication Strategy and programs intended for the information and education of farmers in the pre-accession period, as well as the way to use the EU funds meant solely for farmers.
