Marking the Europe Week, “EU Days” with the topic “Fight against corruption” were opened at the Faculty of Economy in Zagreb, on Monday, 3 May 2010. Marking the Europe Week in Croatia’s counties commenced in Sisak, by a formal session of a European Integra

President of the Republic of Croatia Ivo Josipović, Head of Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of Croatia Paul Vandoren and State Secretary for European Integration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Andrej Plenković participated at the opening of the manifestation „ EU Days“ and held speeches. Member states Ambassadors, lecturers and students also attended the event.

„ EU Days “ are organised by the Croatian Student Association and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. State Secretary for European Integration Plenković held a speech on behalf of the Ministry. He presented the course and current state of Croatia’s EU negotiations, and stressed the goal to have them finalised by the end of this year. He also mentioned Croatia’s efforts in fighting corruption and stressed the importance of the Europe Week in view of strengthening the communication campaign on Croatia’s EU membership.

Within the framework of marking the Europe Week in Croatia’s counties, State Secretary Plenković participated in the formal session of the European Integration Council of Sisačko-moslavačka County in Sisak. On that occasion, he held a lecture on Croatia’s full EU membership negotiations and presented the possibilities of using structural funds and the cohesion fund, positive impacts of which Croatian citizens will notice after the EU accession.

After the session, local and autochthonous products were presented on stands, a competition “Do you speak European” was held, as well as a quiz on the European Union for citizens. The programme of the Assembly of European Regions – Eurodyssee was also presented on the stands, enabling youth exchange for the purpose of learning a foreign language, getting to know a foreign culture and professional training in European Regions that are programme members.

Today’s events, as well as other events in the framework of the Europe Week have the purpose of informing citizens on Croatia’s EU accession.
