Winter School is a long-standing project of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and Hanns Seidel Foundation intended for the students of the Croatian universities who wish to extend their knowledge about European integration.

The goal of the Winter School is also to inform the students about the European Union polices and institutions, and about the process of Croatia’s integration into the Union. In addition, this is the opportunity to exchange experiences and information about, for example, student mobility, which the European Union promotes as one of the methods of contemporary education.

The costs and advantages of enlargement, competitiveness of the Croatian economy, possible scenarios of Europe’s future, pre-accession negotiations, the common market and European Union policies, and impact of the European integration on the education system are just some of the topics that the students will learn about and will be able to discuss in workshops and debates after the lectures.

The lecturers are experts in the field of European integration from the Agency for Mobility, the Economic Research Centre and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. Winter School gathers around 50 students of the final years of study and graduates from the faculties of humanistic sciences of the Universities in Split, Rijeka, Osijek, Zadar, Pula and Zagreb.

At the beginning of the programme, the students were addressed by Head of the Directorate for Support to Croatia’s EU Accession Process Mirjam Katulić.
