Family members of the victims were present today at the main hearing in the District Court in Belgrade – the War Crimes Council, in the legal procedure against the persons charged with war crimes in Lovas.

During the talk at the Embassy, which was attended by Nataša Kandić, President of the Humanitarian Law Fund from Belgrade and representative of the injured parties in the proceedings, family members of the victims of war crimes informed Ambassador Kuprešak about the developments in the trial for war crimes committed in their town thus far, in particular pointing out the necessity that as many as possible inhabitants of Lovas should testify before the Court in Belgrade and with their statements contribute to establishing the truth about the war and crimes committed in that area.

A joint conclusion was that the Lovas case, and all other trials against the accused of war crimes, was extremely important for establishing trust among the citizens of the two states, and for further positive development of the relations between Croatia and Serbia.
